What is the security guard's salary in Cyprus?

The security guard's salary in Cyprus varies as in many other industries. Many, if not most, of the companies are paying their guards the minimum salary, which is, from January 2024, 900 euros.

Those are not experienced, well-trained, motivated, or well-presented guards. In most cases, those are pensioners who need a small extra to supplement their pension income or non-skilled personnel who will have similar earnings in any other industry.

That doesn't mean all security personnel get paid according to the lowest salary. Educated, experienced, and trained security guards in Cyprus can earn anything between 2000 to 5000 euros per month.

Frequently asked questions

In the security industry, there are many parameters to determine the volume of income for a professional security officer, such as:

  • How high-low risk the job description is
  • Qualifications and skills
  • Experience
  • Mental and physical state
  • The ability to solve problems under stress
  • Secrecy/confidentiality
  • Discretion

So, taking all these into consideration, we would say that the highest-paid jobs are those for security managers with years of experience, who are skilled, trained, and qualified and can make decisions that make the difference in securing an organisation or even saving lives in unpredictable and stressful situations.

To become a security guard in Cyprus, you must complete certified training, obtain a security license from the Cyprus Police, and meet specific legal requirements, including no criminal convictions.
